And/or a PC 890 and/or a Bosch Plunge router (ideally, the POF 900 ACE, for you european folks). Reason being: my routers are in Amsterdam, I'm up where the shop lives, and want to put in a shelf right below the bench, with enough clearance to place my tallest router, standing up, right in there. I'll also add a few drawers for generalized tool storage purposes, but a lot of the space (below said shelf) is dedicated to wood and mold/bender storage, so I don't want to go overboard; I was thinking 12" clearance, but I'm not quite sure that would fit...

it would depend upon how the height is adjusted, and how long a bit is in it, if any. i'll measure one today and be able to give you a max and min. but going for the minimum would mean that you would have to compress the plunge base or lower the fixed base and remove the bit each time you want to put it on the shelf.

OK, I'll go a little above 12", methinks; I'm not looking for router table operation, just a place to store them once cooled anyway, and without a bit in them (don't have enough of them to warrant leaving the bits in there).

Thanks guys!

Mattia my Bosch POF 1100 is 30cm high, the body itself only 28cm but the cable extension from the handle adds a bit. For ease of getting them on and of the shelf, I'd go for 35cm and you should be fine.

Thanks folks. I need to go buy a few washers and a spade bit (or find my forstners, somewhere) tomorrow, and then I'll install the shelf at around 32-35cm, I think (I'll make the final decision tomorrow). This will give me one large, 60cm tall x 240cm long storage area for lumber, and the smaller shelf above that, probably half tools, half building/bending forms.

I'll finally post a picture or two of the shop (big word, but still) tomorrow, I think..

Biggest router in my fleet is a Bosch GOF 1300 which is 30cm high....

Sounds like 35cm is a good height for your shelf.

Hope youre making some progress with that arm injury.

Cheers
